Fathers are the most important leaders in a child’s, particularly a young man’s, Steel Life. Through our fathers, we as young men receive self-identity, vision for our lives, and ultimate purpose for our lives. Life is a full contact sport! Our fathers serve as head coaches within our lives, identifying our gifts, talents, strengths, and weaknesses and empower us accordingly. They teach and develop us into dominant players and leaders within the intense and competitive game of life.
Our fathers possess the wisdom, power, and authority to develop us into men and train us to empower others around us. Fathers are the strength of the Steel Family household. A positive dad can impact our leadership potential, helping us to achieve a greater level of success in all areas of life.
Fathers serve as our protectors, shielding us from the hard hits and tackles of life that hinder, and ultimately abort, our purpose in life. Fathers protect us from the unfair referees of life who refuse to officiate the intense, unfair, and competitive full contact game of life fairly. Fathers hold the bias referees of life accountable.
Unfortunately, fatherlessness is extremely prominent in the lives of black and brown youth in America. Our fathers, use their power and authority to challenge the corrupt and unfair officiating and hold others accountable thereby forcing them to call the game of life fairly, protecting us from the penalties and flagrant fouls that life hits and tackles us with prematurely.
Fathers firmly establish a foundation in our lives. They build and develop us into productive, successful, and ultimately prosperous Men and Women of Steel of our generation. Sadly, without this foundation we are left open and vulnerable to the relentless attacks, political, economic, and educational hard hits, and tackles of life long before we are strong enough to sustain, manage, avoid, and survive them.
Consequently, we are killed prematurely in the streets, in staggering proportions by people that look like us, partially because of the strong and deep anger and resentment that comes from the absence of our fathers within our lives. The inevitable lack of self-identity, value and purpose that comes with a father’s absence is felt in very profound ways. Hence, making us more susceptible to oppression, poverty, poor education, substance abuse and mass incarceration, as well as, perpetuating a powerful and endless cycle of hopelessness within our family heritage and community.
As black men and boys we find ourselves victims of police brutality and corrupt law enforcement officers within our hostile war zone communities. Sadly, our hostile war zone communities offer us a variety of opportunities to pursue a life in crime, drug addiction, alcoholism, violence, poverty and poor education, which leads to premature death and the mass incarceration of far too many young black and brown men and boys, on one of America’s privately owned multi-billion dollar mass incarceration prison plantations. .
The presence of a strong father figure within our lives will positively change the trajectory of our lives. It will set us on a path of successfully achieving abundant prosperity politically, economically, educationally and in all other areas of our lives as well. One choice to break the generational cycle of fatherlessness is so powerful that it can change the course of our Steel Life and that of our children indefinitely. Thus, it will set us on a more positive course of generational cycles of prosperity in all areas of our lives.
My relationship with my Father is a living example of this truth. My decision to break the generational cycle of fatherlessness in my life by accepting and developing a relationship with my Father, changed the trajectory and outcome of my Steel 22 Life. Hence, set me on a course of prospering abundantly in all areas of my life. In doing so, I have purposely set in place a positive generational cycle within my life to replace the negative cycle, I inherited from my absent biological father.
Fathers possess the power to be the authors of their son’s Steel Life story. Again, my Father’s presence in my life is evidence of this truth. As the author of my Steel 22 Life biography series, He uses His power and authority to write my life story and when necessary, edit the mistakes, failures and disadvantages that I inherited and encountered in life and caused them to work together for my good.
My Father’s editing of my Steel 22 Life story contributes to the development, production, and publishing of my Steel 22 Life biography series as a powerful testimony of the vitally important purpose of a father’s presence in a child’s life. Also, my memoir series will serve as a leadership training and development manual for my posterity. Hence, train and develop them into the Men and Women of Steel of their generation. In doing so, empower them to successfully fulfill their Steel Life assignment.
My Father has been able to empower me politically and economically because we share a personal and intimate father and son relationship of love together. Sadly, far too many young black and brown boys in our community lack this kind of relationship with their father, which has inevitably led to the problems of crime, death, addiction, poverty, poor education, and mass incarceration within our hostile war zone communities today. It is so vitally important for us to break the generational cycle of fatherlessness within our community. In doing so, we will successfully solve all the problems that plague our community and lives overall.
Sadly, because many of us do not have strong and healthy relationships with our biological fathers, this same pattern is reflected in all our relationships. Thankfully, that can change today. As fathers, we must use our stories and lives as models and blueprints for our children to follow to develop strong and healthy relationships with each other and our women.
In doing so, we will successfully break the generational cycle of fatherlessness within your Steel Family and our community. Consequently, our community will ultimately reap the deliverance, healing, empowerment, and benefits of our decision to break the dreadful cycle of fatherlessness within our lives and family. This will be one of the absolute best decisions we can make during our lifetime.
More importantly, our decision to do so, will lead to countless others being impacted by our leadership. We can and must break the generational cycle of fatherlessness within our families and overall community if we, as men, are to elevate our people out of the despair and sense of nihilism that continues to plague our collective hostile war zone communities throughout this nation. Hence, develop our boys and girls into the Men and Woman of Steel of their generation and empower them to successfully fulfill their Steel Life assignment.

Steel Life is a full contact sport! All too often, during the intense and competitive game of life, life hits and tackles us so hard that it leaves us feeling permanently defeated. During my Steel 22 Life journey, I was violently tackled by the vicious generational cycles, crisis and afflictions of fatherlessness, ignorance, violence, crime, poverty, oppression, addiction, health challenges, betrayal, deceit, separation, divorce, and death.
Unfortunately, I was born into a society full of evil, darkness, corruption, hatred, fear, pain, segregation, racism, inequality, and injustice that relentlessly sought to incarcerate or kill me. My Steel 22 Life story clearly reveals how both racism and privilege transcend generations to the benefit of some and the detriment of others.
By no fault of my own, I was born into a fatherless and dysfunctional home. My biological father was absent most of my life. Fathers serve as the head Steel Life coaches within the family unit. Therefore, I was left to learn how to effectively play the intense, unfair, and competitive game of life without my head coach presence, protection, direction, training, provision, and leadership.
As a direct result of his absence, I suffered from an identity crisis and lack of vision and purpose at the onset of my Steel 22 Life. Unbeknownst to me at the time, boys discover their identity through their fathers. We are created in the image and likeness of our fathers.
Consequently, my dad’s absence left the valuable responsibility of discovering my identity, vision, and purpose in life to my assistant life coach, my mom. My mom was forced to take on the responsibility of providing vision, provision, direction, purpose, protection, cultivation, correction, discipline and developing me into a productive and dominant player of the intense, unfair and competitive game of life by herself.
Also, she had to do so, while simultaneously fulfilling her role as the assistant life coach within our family unit. Hence, assisting my dad with successfully fulfilling his job as the primary visionary of our family. Together they were responsible for rigorously training and developing me into the Man of Steel of my generation.
Sadly, the generational dysfunction of our family heritage and society in which we lived made it almost impossible for them to successfully fulfill their purpose as Steel Life coaches within our family. Hence, making me susceptible to the inevitable barrage of hard hits, tackles, and afflictions I encountered over the course of the game of life.
My dad’s absence led to other spiritual, mental, emotional, physical, and financial problems and deficits within my Steel 22 Life. My ignorance and desperate pursuit of my father’s presence, protection, provision, validation, support, and love led to me looking for my identity and life’s purpose in other people, places, and things. Sadly, this hopeless journey led to additional problems within my Steel 22 Life.
To make matters worse, the referees of life do not always call the game of life fairly. At a young age, I discovered the game of life in America was already set up to my disadvantage. This truth was reflected, confirmed, and reinforced through the bias calls of the referees of life. They consistently allowed me to be wrongly penalized by a political, economic, and criminal injustice system that had already set the terms, limits, and paths for the course of my Steel 22 Life.
I was born into severe poverty, oppression and in the hostile war zone community of Baltimore City. Baltimore City offered very few opportunities for me to survive, thrive and escape its political and economic bondage and develop into a productive citizen within my community and country. In fact, my hostile war zone community provided me with an abundance of opportunities to pursue a lifestyle of violence, crime, selling drugs, drug addiction and ultimately end up incarcerated on one of America’s privately owned multi-billion dollar mass incarceration prison plantations or dead without ever discovering my potential and successfully fulfilling my Steel Life assignment.
Thankfully, at a young age, I was able to reconnect with my Father and develop a personal relationship of love with Him. Through our relationship He revealed to me my gifts, talents, and Steel 22 Life assignment. He taught me how to use my gifts and talents to successfully fulfill my purpose in life.
In other words, He trained me to successfully use the hostile and violent environment in which I was born, as a fitness center to train and develop me into a dominant leader within my hostile war zone community, country and ultimately the entire world market of humanity. He taught me how to use my gifts and talents to successfully solve the social problems of poverty, crime, violence, addiction and fatherlessness that plagued my community and ultimately build a successful and prosperous Steel 22 Life for myself and my family.
In other words, my Father rigorously trained and developed me into the Man of Steel of my generation. However, the Steel Making Process was extensive and multidimensional. The training process was intense, rigorous, and unbearable during different chapters of my Steel 22 Life.
My Father used my mistakes, the crisis, and afflictions I encountered over the course of my life to train and develop me. He used them to test and develop my Steel 22 Faith in Him. He used them to develop me into one of the strongest, wisest, and most dominant leaders and players of my generation and within the fiercely competitive game of life.
At times in my life, the training was so painful, traumatic, and intense that I questioned my Father’s love for me and whether he had my best interest at heart, as my head Steel Life Coach. I wondered whether he was my coach, or my opponent trying to torture, humiliate, defeat, and ultimately kill me.
To my surprise, time revealed Him to be the best Steel 22 Life Coach, Personal Trainer, and Father a young man could ask for. Time revealed Him to be a great Personal Trainer, who effectively prepared me for the intense, unfair, and fiercely competitive game of life. He prepared, developed, and led me through the Steel Making Process in the scorching hot furnace of life.
Over the course of time, all the bad decisions I made, afflictions and crisis that I encountered during my Steel 22 Life journey worked together for my good because I developed an intimate and personal relationship of love with my Father and was called according to His purpose.
Miraculously, through it all, I emerged victoriously, prosperous, and successful in all areas of my Steel 22 Life. I have successfully endured the scorching hot furnace of life. I have emerged as the Man of Steel of my generation. Through our relationship, my Father empowered me to successfully fulfill my Steel 22 Life assignment.
